Science and technology enable Dashiqiao's magnesium industry to embark on the "fast track" of high-end and industrialized development. At present, the city has established 31 technology enterprises, 36 magnesium material research institutions, including 7 provincial technology research centers. Among the developed products, there are 58 national and provincial science and technology plans, which have won provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards and excellent new product awards, including 19 international leading items and 39 domestic leading items. Magnesia refractory products, magnesium sulfate fertilizer and electrical magnesium oxide technology are international leading items, and the output is among the top in the country. As a result, Dashiqiao City has become a national magnesium industry sustainable development pilot zone, a magnesium material industrialization base, a national magnesium refractory production and export base, and a national new industrial demonstration base, becoming a well-known "China's magnesium capital" at home and abroad.

In view of the fact that the original decentralized and extensive production of magnesium industry has destroyed the ecological environment, in the past two years, Dashiqiao City has carried out environmental protection renovation with the courage of breaking the wrist and scraping the bone to cure the poison, and constantly strengthened its own environmental upgrading and transformation, so that magnesium can truly become a green metal.

Dashiqiao City hired an expert team from Liaoning University of Science and Technology to conduct a comprehensive investigation and identification of magnesium related kilns in the city one by one, and completely eliminated light fired reflex kilns of 18 cubic meters and less and heavy fired magnesia shaft kilns of 40 cubic meters and less. The enterprises that fail to meet the requirements of environmental protection, have incomplete procedures, and are not well managed have been shut down by category. 277 enterprises have been shut down, and the production capacity has been reduced by 5.78 million tons. The production capacity of "three magnesium" raw materials has been reduced by 41.5%.

In accordance with the principle of "eliminating one batch, upgrading one batch and merging one batch", Dashiqiao City has guided the transformation and upgrading of enterprises from three levels, merger and reorganization, strengthened the efficient and comprehensive utilization of low-grade magnesite resources, reduced the emission of pollutants such as dust, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides, and realized the transformation from resource advantages to industrial advantages by improving and upgrading the ore flotation technology.
